Penfolds Koonunga Hill Autumn Riesling 2025 750ml Koonunga Hill Autumn Riesling

In the early 1970s, Max Schubert began developing a series of white wines that could rival Penfolds' already famous red wines. The early wines were named Autumn Riesling, and this particular wine features a reproduction of the retro label from that era. It is an aromatic and very expressive Riesling.

The wine offers a flamboyant bouquet of white flowers and frangipani (plumeria), intertwined with sweet, sensual, slightly rose-like notes, and a bright overlay of ginger, lemon, and orange marmalade. On the palate, grapefruit and mandarin burst with freshness, while crisp acidity and a wet stone or chalk-like minerality form the wine's backbone. The delicate balance with residual sugar leads to a long, refreshing finish, creating an elegant and refined wine. Best enjoyed: now to 2032.
