The village of Gevrey-Chambertin is located at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits region, which produces excellent wines. The Premier Cru "Poissenot" is situated on a south-facing slope. The name "Poissenot" is said to be a corruption of "Poissons" (meaning fish), named after the fishponds created by Cluniac monks in the Middle Ages.

It has a beautiful deep color, aromas of various fruits, rounded yet firm tannins, and a long finish. It is a rich and powerful red wine.
